4-Methylbenzylammonium bromide is the hydrobromide of 4-methylbenzylamine, adding an electron-donating methyl group at the para position of the benzyl ring. Ring substitution shifts the electron density and dipole of the aromatic spacer, a modification used when methylated benzylammonium cations are incorporated as perovskite precursors to adjust interlayer interactions and film properties. The reagent is refined through four purification passes to >=99% and is a moisture-, air- and light-sensitive solid stored under argon away from light.
