Description

4-tert-Butylbenzylammonium bromide is the hydrobromide of 4-tert-butylbenzylamine, an arylalkyl ammonium salt in which a methylene spacer separates the tert-butyl substituted ring from the ammonium head group. That additional conformational freedom distinguishes it from the rigid anilinium analogues and is useful when interlayer spacing in low-dimensional perovskites has to be tuned. The compound is purified four times to >=99%, dissolves in DMF and DMSO, and appears in peer-reviewed work on desorption-ionisation mechanisms, which reflects its value as a well-defined organic ammonium salt in analytical studies. Store at room temperature under argon because the material is sensitive to moisture, air and light.
