Cat No:BMSPEM-0415
This 5 um spherical hard carbon powder from Eata Battery is a disordered, non-graphitic carbon anode active material designed for both sodium-ion and lithium-ion batteries, suitable for scientific research and production. Unlike graphite, whose narrow interlayer spacing cannot accommodate the larger sodium ion, hard carbon combines an enlarged average interlayer spacing that allows sodium ions to intercalate readily with a microporous structure formed by graphite-like microcrystallites that provides abundant additional sodium storage sites. The high sphericity promotes uniform slurry flow and coating, improves particle packing and electrode density, and reduces the risk of coating streaks. Analysis results: particle size D50 1.5 um with reversible capacity 300 mAh/g (first table); reversible capacity 250-300 mAh/g with purity of 99.9% or higher and molecular formula C (specification table). Typical anode formulation is hard carbon : carbon black : binder = 90 : 5 : 5 by weight with CMC/SBR or PVDF binder, coated on 8-10 um copper foil at 40-50% solid content, dried at 80-120 degrees C and calendared to 1.0-1.2 g/cm3; for sodium-ion cells a 1 M NaPF6 in EC:DMC (1:1) electrolyte with 2% FEC is recommended over a 0.01-2.0 V window versus Na+/Na.
