Description

Butylammonium lead iodide ((C4H9NH3)2PbI4, (BA)2PbI4) is a layered two-dimensional lead iodide perovskite in which double layers of butylammonium cations separate inorganic lead iodide sheets. The Ruddlesden-Popper type architecture gives strong quantum confinement, sharp excitonic features and better environmental stability than three-dimensional analogues, which is why the material is used in 2D perovskite solar cells, light-emitting diodes and photodetectors. Supplied at >=99%, it dissolves in DMF and DMSO and, like other lead compounds, calls for full protective measures during handling: the substance is toxic to reproduction, causes organ damage through prolonged or repeated exposure, and is very toxic to aquatic life.
