Cat No:BMSPEM-0399
This battery-grade cobalt sulfate heptahydrate (CoSO4.7H2O) powder from Eata Battery is a pink to brownish-red crystalline cobalt source for synthesizing lithium cobalt oxide (LiCoO2), NMC and NCA cathode materials, supplied in 1 kg sealed packages ready for dissolution, co-precipitation or calcination with lithium sources. Battery-grade specification: Co >= 21%; Ni, Fe, Cu, Zn and Pb each <= 0.001% (electroplating-grade and industrial-grade limits of >= 20% Co with up to 0.8% Ni and 0.05% Fe are also listed for reference). The material is readily soluble in water and methanol, slightly soluble in ethanol, provides Co2+ ions for direct co-precipitation with hydroxide or carbonate, and is prone to efflorescence in dry air with complete dehydration at 420 degrees C. Cobalt sulfate sits at the front end of the cathode supply chain: it is dissolved, co-precipitated with a lithium source and base, and calcined to form the electrochemically active layered oxide powder, so its impurity levels directly determine the purity and electrochemical stability of the finished cathode.
