Cat No:BMSPEM-0038

Description

Diisopropylamine hydroiodide converts a volatile, strongly odoured secondary amine into a stable crystalline solid that can be weighed accurately and stored indefinitely under argon. In perovskite work it acts as a bulky organic cation paired with iodide, and the steric bulk of the two isopropyl groups disrupts close packing in ways that can stabilise lower-dimensional or more defective-tolerant film structures. The salt melts at 241°C and dissolves readily in water, which simplifies precursor solution preparation. It is both hygroscopic and light sensitive, so amber glass and a dry atmosphere are recommended. Minimum assay is 98%.
