Description

Ethylenediammonium dibromide (EDABr) carries two ammonium head groups on a two-carbon backbone, so it can bridge adjacent inorganic sheets instead of merely separating them. This double-protonated diammonium geometry is used to build diammonium-based hybrid perovskites and to template corrugated, dion-Jacobson-type layered phases in which bandgap, carrier diffusion length and power conversion efficiency are optimised through cation and anion variation. The salt is purified four times to >=99.5%, melts at about 350 C, and is stored at room temperature under argon.
