Description

Ethylenediammonium dichloride (EDACl), the dihydrochloride of ethylenediamine, is the chloride member of the doubly protonated diammonium series. Beyond its role as a chloride precursor for hybrid halide frameworks, it is an established analytical reagent: the modified ethylenediamine condensation method uses it for fluorimetric determination of catecholamines, and it has served to investigate the luminescence of europium(III) and terbium(III) complexes and to synthesise 1,3,5-tris(4,5-dihydro-1H-imidazol-2-yl)benzene. The salt is purified four times to >=99.5%, melts above 300 C, dissolves in water at 300 g/L (20 C) as well as in DMF and DMSO, and is stored at room temperature under argon.
