Description

Formamidinium iodide (FAI) supplies the formamidinium cation together with iodide in a single reagent, which is why it sits at the centre of most alpha-FAPbI3 and mixed-cation perovskite recipes. Because residual impurities nucleate the undesirable yellow non-perovskite phase, the reagent is refined through four purification passes to >=99.5% before it reaches the bottle. It is handled as a moisture- and light-sensitive solid, stored under argon at room temperature, and dissolves in the polar aprotic solvents used for perovskite ink formulation.
