m-Xylylenediammonium diiodide is the dihydroiodide of m-xylylenediamine, in which two aminomethyl groups at the 1- and 3-positions of the benzene ring are protonated to ammonium heads. Relative to directly ring-attached phenylenediammonium salts, the methylene spacers decouple the ammonium groups from the aromatic core, softening the bridging angle while retaining a rigid meta-phenylene backbone. The reagent is purified four times to >=99% and used as a perovskite precursor; it is stored under argon protected from light.
