Manganese dioxide is an oxidizing inorganic material with a high theoretical specific capacitance. It is insoluble in water, nitric acid, and cold sulfuric acid; it dissolves gradually in cold hydrochloric acid with chlorine release and can dissolve in dilute sulfuric or nitric acid when hydrogen peroxide or oxalic acid is present. Contact, friction, or impact with organic materials may cause combustion.
