N,N-Dimethylethylenediamine dihydrobromide is a diammonium bromide salt built on a short ethylene backbone carrying a tertiary dimethylamino group and a primary amine, both neutralised by hydrobromic acid. The material dissolves readily in water, which makes it a convenient cation source when solution-processed organohalide perovskite layers are being formulated. Swapping the organic cation is one of the most direct ways to tune band gap, carrier diffusion length and power conversion efficiency in perovskite devices, and this salt gives formulation chemists a compact, highly polar option for that purpose. It behaves as a hygroscopic solid, so it is best dispensed quickly and returned to a dry, argon-protected container. Every lot is released against an assay of at least 99%.
