Description

This iodide counterpart of the dimethyl ethylenediamine salt introduces a larger, more polarisable halide into the perovskite lattice, which shifts the absorption edge and changes how the film crystallises. Because cation and anion substitution work together, having matched bromide and iodide versions of the same organic cation lets a research group isolate the effect of the halide alone. The compound is supplied at a minimum assay of 98% and is noticeably hygroscopic, so handling under dry gas stands recommended. It finds use both as a precursor in halide perovskite work and as a convenient way to deliver a tertiary amine functionality into an organic synthesis in a weighable, non-volatile form.
