Cat No:BMSPEM-0048
PBTTPD alternates a thienopyrroledione acceptor unit with a didodecyl-substituted bithiophene donor along the backbone. The thienopyrroledione contributes a strongly electron-withdrawing, planar imide-containing ring that pulls the HOMO down and narrows the band gap, while the dodecyl side chains on the bithiophene keep the polymer soluble and processable from common organic solvents. That combination made it a reference donor polymer in bulk heterojunction solar cells and a useful benchmark in polymer transistor work. The material is sensitive to both light and air in solution and as a film, so it is stored at room temperature under argon and handled under inert atmosphere during device fabrication.
