Description

Phenylethylammonium lead bromide ((C6H5CH2CH2NH3)2PbBr4, PEA2PbBr4) is a two-dimensional lead bromide perovskite supplied at >=99%. The material is solution-processable from DMF to form thin films and acts as a violet emitter for light-emitting diodes: nanoplatelets show a photoluminescence peak at 407 nm with a quantum yield of 26%, single crystals emit at 412 nm with a quantum efficiency of 0.22, and LED devices built with this material as the emissive layer operate at room temperature with an on/off voltage of 2.5-2.8 V and an external quantum efficiency of 0.038%. The compound is stored in the dark under argon and, as a lead compound, is toxic to reproduction, harmful if swallowed or inhaled, and very toxic to aquatic life, so release to the environment must be avoided.
