The novel transmissive blazed grating utilizes grazing incidence of the incoming light onto the smooth sidewalls of the grating, achieving blazing in the specular reflection direction of the sidewalls, resulting in high diffraction efficiency. The novel transmissive blazed grating was successfully fabricated in single-crystal silicon using holographic lithography and wet etching techniques.
